Many of us believe that we have agency in how we handle our lives, but what about agency in our relationships. I believe that we can’t really be free until we are willing to be free.
I tend to see the word “agency” used more in a negative way, but I’m not sure. It can mean that we are more or less free to choose what we want to do with our lives, but I think its more of a general idea that we are free to choose to be more or less competent, or at least free to choose how we want to be treated at work.
In most cases, agency is not a thing. It is more of a mindset. For example, if you’re a boss and someone is trying to take away your job, you probably wont really have any say in how it happens. For me, the term applies to the ways that I treat my bosses.
