This is one of those things that seems to have homeowners pretty stumped. I think it is because calling a caller an “important” or “important person” can be quite simple and easy. But there are some rules and regulations that make it so much easier to call. It’s worth pointing out, though, that this is only a guideline.
Callers are also not to be trusted. They are to have a lot of reputation and that’s it. Some people will run into trouble for being “too good” to be called and even more for not having a good name in the first place. You shouldn’t be able to call for your favorite sports team, or for that matter any other random number, and know that after you say it over and over again, your phone will still ring and the person on the other end will not recognize you. I think having an id with a lot of reputation is a good thing because it makes you more likely to get called.
Calling other people on the phone is not nearly as secure as it used to be. The advent of caller id, where the caller id (or number dialed) is embedded in the phone, and is shown to the called party in a very small window of time, has made it possible for people to call anyone they want (which is great for spam calling). This has increased the number of unwanted calls that people make, in the process giving new people the chance to steal your information.
In this particular case, the caller ID number is a private one and not in anyone’s possession. But just how private is it? Because this kind of information is usually only known to the person who is on the other end of the phone. And it’s a little bit more private if the called party doesn’t know the number at all.
The service provider that provides the caller id number is a good one if you want to change it. And if its your own number and arent in anyones possession, just change it to something else.
Caller id is more of an annoyance than a problem when it comes to privacy concerns. It’s like the person who is texting you, but not on your cell phone, is still on your call. And it’s hard enough to figure out whether you’ve been chatting with someone without knowing the exact number to the person you’ve called.
Caller id is hard enough to figure out without having to get the details of who youve been chatting with. And the fact that its your own number is a very good reason to not use it.
