Fall is on its way and that means it’s time to get ready for your favorite season of the year. If you’re looking for an easy way to update your wardrobe, cut out tops are a perfect choice. They can be worn with jeans or leggings, so they’ll work as well in the office as they will at home. Plus, these pieces come in many different colors which means you’ll have no problem finding one that matches any outfit!
#cut out top
The cut-out trend is one that’s been around for years, but it seems to be making a comeback. In the past few months we’ve seen this style in different variations including backless tops or oversize shirts with holes cut into them. The latest take on this look is wearing these pieces under other clothing as an alternative way to expose your skin without going all the way! Plus, if you’re looking for more coverage than what most of these styles offer then don’t worry because there are plenty of ways to layer clothes underneath too. Try pairing a cut-out blouse with jeans and a cardigan or dress up some leggings by throwing on something like jeggings (jeans + tights) or a skirt and an oversized sweater.
Cut-out top: any outfit!

cut out jeans: any outfit! Try pairing a cut-out blouse with jeans and a cardigan or dress up some leggings by throwing on something like jeggings (jeans + tights) or a skirt and an oversized sweater. It’s the perfect way to enhance your outfit and show off a little skin at the same time.
high waisted shorts: these are one of my favorite pieces for fall because they’re so versatile, you can wear them with pretty much anything from casual outfits to dresses. I love how it feels when high quality clothes hug my curves in all the right places too 🙂 High waisted shorts are a great alternative to jeans because they’re more fitted and flattering, but still give the same look as wide leg pants.
cut off shirt: I know it sounds crazy–cutting up an expensive sweater or dress, right? But there’s something so cool about just one sleeve of your favorite piece – paired with high waisted shorts or even leggings in winter! Try cutting out only one armhole too for a different look (and if you mess up, no biggie). It’ll still be cheaper than buying new clothes.
scissors/sharp fabric shears: get some good quality ones that’ll last since this is one of the few creative tasks you’ll be doing around your house. I usually cut up my clothes with scissors then use a pinking shear to finish off edges and make them look super clean.
rhinestones: okay, so this is only if you want to get extra fancy 😉 add some bling by embellishing it with shiny stones–you can even go old school glitter glue for something more crafty! It’s an easy way to wear trends all year long because they’re easier than ever before (and cheaper too).
sewing machine: not necessary but nice if you have one. You could also try using fabric tape or hot glue gun to seal seams while adding sparkle. Sew on new buttons or replace old zippers with new ones.
sew: this one can be a little tricky but there are some tutorials out there that will show you how to mend clothes like a pro! I’ve even seen people use thread and needle as an alternative if they don’t want to buy anything else.
sewing kit: make sure it has scissors, pins, needles in case any of those break on your fabric–your safety pin supply should also be stocked up for emergency repairs when the time comes. Super important to have around especially when kids are involved!
