“Dream about You” is a song by BTS, which was the title track to their album Love Yourself: Her. It’s an emotional dance ballad with lyrics that talk about wanting to be with someone who you love and telling them how much they mean to you. The song has been translated into multiple languages for international fans and it talks about how far they will go in order to be together again.
In the Korean version, this is a sad but hopeful love ballad that expresses their longing with an upbeat melody. The lyrics talk about wanting someone so much it hurts and telling them you’re sorry because you were selfish before, now all you want to do is tell them how loved they are every day. It also includes lines like “I’ll make time stop if I can” or “Even when fate takes us apart.” This lyrical content reflects Jungkook’s emotions at the time of writing from past events where he felt his heart break as well as showing his hope for being able to take a different path in the future.
This song is the band’s first Korean release in two and a half years since “Spring Day.” The music video was released on March 21. It features members Jungkook, J-Hope, V and Jimin dancing with three female backup dancers who are dressed as angels.
The choreography takes inspiration from traditional Korean dance. As it progresses it builds up to an emotional climax that shows all five of them crying intensely before coming back together at the end for a final group hug while singing about how they miss someone so much but still want to see their loved one every day even if fate takes them apart again in the future.
Towards the end of this year BTS will be embarking on their Love Yourself world tour.
The lyrics of the song are about missing someone so much but still wanting to see that person every day even if fate takes them apart again in the future: “I can’t forget you, don’t be mad at me/ I just want us to meet once more before this life is over” and “When your heart aches with sadness from a lonely night/ Look up at the moon or find some other light.”
It’s sung by all five members Jungkook, J-Hope, V and Jimin who have been separated for two years as they take turns singing verses. The chorus asks their loved one not to leave them alone because it would make things unbearable without them. They also sing about how no matter how much they love themselves, their heart still belongs to the person who is gone and that’s why it feels incomplete.

The vocals are accompanied by an orchestral string and piano score. The vocals have a vulnerable tone, as if the singer is pleading for help from their loved one to not leave them alone.”
“The song begins with Jungkook singing about how he’s been longing for his lover all this time and can’t get over him. He sings that after two years of being apart, they’re finally able to meet again in person (with “love”). Jimin then vocalizes having difficulty breathing because it feels like now that they’ve found each other again there would be nothing left without them.”
A month ago I was dreaming about you
And though we were together last night
I think the past few months have passed me by”
No matter how much they love themselves, their heart still belongs to the person who is gone and that’s why it feels incomplete.”
“I can’t bear to see you go away once more, so I stay here in this daydream.”
Jimin then sings about how he knows they will still love each other even when the time comes for them to part. “Two years have passed and we meet again on a different path,” but until then, it’s not over yet. Finally Jungkook brings back up the theme of being apart after two years (and how difficult that is) with his lover by singing: “We were finally able to find our way home from far away./ It was hard because I couldn’t breathe without your warmth.”
Jungkook concludes with an introspective verse about just wanting their loved ones near him always–no matter the consequence.
“Until I felt you near me, it is only now that I’m living.”
Jungkook’s lyrics are a direct reflection of his love for someone he can’t be with–the feeling like they’re always there when their loved one isn’t present in physical form. He wants to spend every second by their side and not have anything come between them ever again; as he sings: “I don’t want to let go of your hand once more/Even if we live on different routes./ Hold my hand tightly until the end so we won’t get lost anymore.””
It also sounds as though Jungkook has developed an idea of how difficult things will become without this person around him.
