The ability to be fully present, in the moment, is crucial for being fully present in life. I’ve gone so far as to name it the “intelifluence” and I believe it is something that takes practice to fully achieve.
I think the definition of intelifluence is simply the ability to be present in the moment. The idea is to be fully aware of the moment and to be able to live the moment, without being preoccupied by anything else. As we’ve seen in the past, the ability to be fully present in the moment is a very hard skill to acquire. I think you can learn to be fully present in the moment by practicing what you are, and that takes practice.
I’ve watched tons of interviews with world-class athletes over the years, and I’ve always thought that they seemed to have a lot of trouble with this. I think that’s because the idea of being fully present in the moment is so foreign to them, and so it’s probably the hardest skill to learn.
There’s a large amount of information that goes on in these interviews, but it’s all about what you do (and how you react to what you do) and how you react. That being said, there’s a lot of great news about how intelifluence is actually a skill you can learn. As we write it, it does seem like it’s not too hard. We’re not entirely sure exactly how intelifluence works, but we believe it’s basically a subconscious ability to be able to read people and respond accordingly.
This is definitely an area where people are still getting the hang of things. One of the ways people practice this skill is by creating a filter for their own life. Whether its a filter that says, “I’ll be more empathetic to people in my own life,” or a filter that says, “I’ll be more kind and thoughtful to people around me, even if I’m not around my own family,” it can all be done with intelifluence.
Its essentially an ability to think yourself into a more empathetic and kinder mood. Its also one of the main ways we use the subconscious to filter out our own tendencies. The best way to practice this skill is to create a filter that says, Ill be more empathetic to people, even if Im not around my family, Ill be more kind and thoughtful to people around me, Ill be more kind and respectful to people around me.
People that are good at this skill are those that are often surrounded by people that are being nasty or critical. So if you have someone from work that is being critical or critical of people around them, you might want to try and change the way you see them. You make them feel more empathetic. If you are always thinking, “I should be more empathetic to people around me, even if Im not around my family.
