monday.com has been around for about 7 years now, and I think it’s a great site! I love the variety of content and the fact that they focus on different themes, so that’s a plus. I’ve been a subscriber to monday.
monday.com is a great site at the same time we have been saying for the past few years that the top web properties aren’t giving monday.com enough of a chance. I think we have all been saying that for months, but this monday.com newbie has been doing a lot of talking lately, and I think it is finally starting to sink in the way that we all need to get back to the top of the heap.
Monday.com is owned by Newsvine, who has spent the past year and a half fighting to maintain their spot at the top of the heap. This week in an interview with the Huffington Post, CEO of Newsvine, Jason Bellos, says the top web properties arent giving monday.com enough of a chance.
The site has been very difficult to rank in the past, and one of the things that has kept people on the site is the level of competition. If you were to go to monday.com today, you would be in a very tough spot because it has a ton of competitors.
I get the feeling that it’s not just about a lack of exposure. If you are on monday.com and you get a message from a competitor on Twitter or Facebook that says, “hey, I saw your article,” you are in a very strong position. The only way to hurt a competitor is to be wrong, and the only way to hurt a competitor’s rankings is to be right. To be sure, monday.
monday.com competes on the same metrics. But its competitors list is also a lot harder to navigate. Its current top ten (which covers the last few months) is pretty much up to date, yet there are still a lot of new sites popping up on the list. When I go to monday.com, I am presented with a list of competitors that includes dozens if not hundreds of new pages. Most of the pages on the list are just a handful of links.
One thing that’s often overlooked is how a page on a website compares to the page in the previous page, and so as a result you will see how many pages it has got (because the top ten are all new pages, so there is no need to put them all into one page). But a page on a website is different from the one you are on the same page.
The page on monday.com has a lot more links than your home page, and so it should be considered a “new” page. As a result, you can have a lot more pages on your home page, which will mean you can better target them for link building.
Unlike the home page, you will not be able to add new pages from the monday.com website. You can add them as you have them on the home page (by clicking on the links on the top of their pages) or you can add them by clicking on the links in the footer at the bottom of the page. A page on monday.com you will have to click to get to, for example, the page of the local government that you need to link to.
There are a lot of pages on monday.com that will take you to pages on your home page. So you can better target those pages for link building.
