I personally prefer top loading balances because my little one always stands on our SUV trying to see what I can’t see when we go somewhere–which is really annoying!

Side loading balances have lots of crevices where dirt can hide which is hard for me as someone with two kids under three years old in the house–it’s just not always possible to get it all out without help from Daddy or maybe even both parents… The top loaders don’t collect stuff like this (though they do hold more hair) but they’re still easy to vacuum off by hand if you want them cleaned every day like I do when I’m home alone with the littles.
