Treasure Found: Gold-plated Trash Can

Gold-plated trash cans are not something you would expect to find in a small town outside of Chicago. But when the owner of the metal recycling company, Southcoast Recycling, is looking for gold to sell he doesn’t have much choice but to scour his local dumpsters. That’s where he found this beauty!

Southcoast Recycling owner, Greg Nanticoke found a gold plated trash can while on the job one day. The gold had tarnished over time so he dipped it in electroclean and now it’s back to its original shine!

The gold trash can is now a work of art, but it’s not worth anything more than the $300 he paid for it. But Greg found out that this was an antique from Russia when his friend on Facebook told him about it!

This should make everyone feel better if they’ve ever thrown away something valuable by accident or simply just forgot to take something with them after cleaning up their house. You never know what you’re going to find until you start digging around in your recycling bins!

“People get really upset when they throw something out,” Greg said. “But we’ve found gold, silver and diamond rings.”

This gold trash can was accidentally thrown away and now it’s worth a lot more than what the owner bought it for! People get really upset when they throw something out, but this gold plated container is an antique that has been given a new life. It might just be found in your recycling bins too!

“I had no idea that gold doesn’t last forever,” said Greg, “If you leave something outside in the sun and rain, eventually there will be a reaction with oxygen.” Tarnish on gold is caused by an electrochemical process where dissolved sulfur reacts to form hydrogen sulfide gas or silver sulfide salt if copper is present.

It’s not just trash cans that are being found either – it could also come as rings from jewelry boxes or even earrings! The Southcoast Recycling has been able to find quite a lot of things they didn’t expect while sorting through recycling bins. Even though some people might have never thought about looking for treasure behind the shed, it’s certainly worth giving it a try!

“We have found gold earrings and we’ve also found gold rings. We find lots of good stuff,” said Kevin Rogers, the recycling company manager.

The best way to avoid being disappointed is by always checking your jewelry before putting it on – even if you don’t wear any out in public anymore! That way, when you’re cleaning up around the house or yard, there are no surprises waiting for you at all.

It was just another day at work until they noticed something shiny peeking from behind one of their trash cans while sorting through recyclables that were delivered earlier that morning. They had done this sort so many times without really thinking about it, but this time was different.

“We have found gold earrings and we’ve also found gold rings,” said Kevin Rogers, the recycling company manager with Waste Management in Parker County. “We find lots of good stuff.”

The shed yielded some interesting finds too: a jar filled with Quaaludes from the 1980s; an old camera that still had film inside; another trash can containing what looked like gold nuggets.
