Its not so much that people have been playing games for so long that they are used to the art. In fact, the first art we ever created for Mass Effect was by one of our programmers. He was one of the first people we hired, and we were very impressed with his work. It was his first time using the engine, and he took a lot of pride in it. I think that’s part of the reason why the first Mass Effect was such a success.
In a way, I think the problem with the engine is that we don’t give much thought to what makes a game good art. We just do what we do. When we first got the engine, I went to the engine room and we all looked at each other, and then one of the guys took a picture. Then, we all had to go out to the floor and pick something up.
It is the same with your game and the game itself. You need to understand that your game is very much about your personality, your experience, your reaction, your personality, and that’s just how the game is.
